Warm greetings to all IAPB members!
It is a pleasure to connect with you through this newly developed website. Since my election as President at the Daejeon, South Korea meeting in August 2023, we have embarked on a journey to transfer the functions of the IAPB Executive Office from Korea to Canada and to increase, enhance, and maintain a positive IAPB profile by developing a comprehensive website. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jang R. Liu, Dr. Donghern Kim, and Dr. Dominique Michaud for their invaluable support during this transition.
Looking ahead, the current officers of the IAPB Canadian Secretariat are committed to serving as a contact point for plant biotechnology-related information by ensuring the smooth functioning of the IAPB secretariat and advancing the strategic direction focused on driving ideas, programs, and innovation forward. We are dedicated to enabling IAPB to push the boundaries of science and innovation excellence by promoting interaction among plant biotechnology researchers and providing the support required to build and maintain a highly capable professional association. We are also committed to increasing, enhancing, and maintaining a positive public profile by developing a comprehensive social media strategy, a consistent and impactful brand, and an annual plan for special events, including member events and public events.
The 16th International Association for Plant Biotechnology Congress will take place in beautiful downtown Saskatoon, Canada, from July 27-31, 2026. This congress will explore the role of plant tissue culture and novel breeding tools in reducing climate change impacts on agriculture and biodiversity, promoting resilient ecosystems, and supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals under the theme of “Plant Biotechnology for Climate Action and Sustainable Development.” The Canadian Association for Plant Biotechnology, Discover Saskatoon, Ag-West Bio, and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture will jointly organize the 16th Congress.
I want to thank all our members for your continued support and engagement. Together, we will advance the field of plant biotechnology and contribute to a sustainable future.
Best regards,

Pankaj Bhowmik
President, IAPB
